Frequently asked questions
The text doesn't move when I speak.
In iOS Settings under Prompterly, check that Microphone and Speech Recognition are allowed. On the very first start iOS downloads the speech model once; this needs an internet connection and can take a minute.
In the prompter, tap the microphone in the bar at the bottom, not Play — Play is the fixed pace. The script's language must match the speech recognition: Settings → Prompter → Voice Language.
The text jumps to the wrong place.
Prompterly always searches near the current position. If a sentence appears almost identically several times, it may jump there. Press and hold the word you're at — the reading position moves there immediately. (While the text stands still, a short tap is enough.)
How do I set up a second device as a remote?
Both devices must be on the same Wi-Fi and have the remote allowed in Settings. Open a script on the prompter; on the second device choose “Remote” and enter the four-digit code the prompter shows.
My scripts don't show up on my other device.
Prompterly doesn't sync through a service of its own but through the folder you choose. Pick the same folder under Settings → Storage on both devices, for example in iCloud Drive. With WebDAV: same address and same account on both devices.
How do I get a Word or PDF script into the app?
Use the plus at the top of the list → “Import file”, Share → Prompterly from any app, or drag it onto the list on iPad. Formatting is dropped; paragraphs are kept.
How do I write formulas and stage directions?
Formulas LaTeX-style: $…$ inline, $$…$$ on their own line. Stage directions in square brackets, e.g. [pause]. The welcome script in the app shows both; if you delete it, the button in the empty list brings it back.
Is the app available in German?
Yes. Prompterly speaks English and German and follows the system language; in iOS Settings under Apps → Prompterly → Language you can switch it for Prompterly alone. Speech recognition is set in the app under Settings → Voice Language. This page is also available in German.
