Frequently asked questions
What does IronStride cost, and what's locked?
Nothing is locked. Unlimited templates, periodization, recording, Apple Watch, widget, Health, export — all free to use. Every insight too, just over the last 90 days. IronStride Pro (one-time purchase, no subscription) removes that limit and shows your entire history including year-over-year comparisons.
Nothing gets deleted and nothing stops being recorded: older sessions stay fully stored, keep counting towards progression and personal bests, and backup and CSV export always contain your entire training history — even without a purchase.
I have a new device — how do I get "IronStride Pro" back?
In Settings under "IronStride Pro" there's a "Restore purchases" button. It works with the same Apple ID you originally bought with — on any device.
Where is my data, and how do I back it up?
Your data lives on your device and in your private iCloud — where your photos are, and just as inaccessible to me. That's why it appears on every device with the same Apple ID. There's no account with me, and syncing costs nothing extra.
Settings open with the gear icon at the top right. Under Settings → Data you can export a backup or a CSV file at any time: all workouts, runs and body measurements, plus your own max and rack positions per exercise. Templates, blocks and shoes live in your iCloud. If a device doesn't sync, the iCloud diagnostics under Settings → Help show where the chain breaks.
Why don't I hear voice cues during a run?
Check whether your iPhone's silent switch is on and whether IronStride has permission for location ("Always" recommended) and motion data in iOS Settings. Both are needed for accurate tracking and cues with the screen locked.
How do I get heart rate without an Apple Watch?
With a Bluetooth chest strap: Polar, Garmin, Wahoo and almost all others work. Under Settings → Chest strap, put the strap on, moisten it briefly (it only transmits with skin contact) and tap it in the list. From then on, IronStride connects on every run by itself.
The Lock Screen shows nothing during a run.
Check under iOS Settings → IronStride that Live Activities are turned on. If the display can't start, IronStride shows the reason at the top of the run screen.
What can the Apple Watch do on its own?
It records a run on its own — distance, pace, heart rate, elevation and map. Your iPhone can stay at home; the run moves into IronStride later by itself. Strength training works on the wrist too, with the same progression math as the iPhone, and your run templates guide you through their segments with taps.
If something is missing, check that watch and iPhone are paired and both are up to date.
Is the app available in English?
Yes. IronStride speaks English and German and follows the system language. Under Settings → Language you can switch it for IronStride only, without changing your whole iPhone.
